| About Me |
Currently, my day job is Environmental Protection Director for Alachua County. Including my first time here as a UF student, I’ve moved to Gainesville three times, with periods in between in Knoxville, Tennessee and Raleigh, North Carolina. My wife Suzanne and I raised our two sons in Gainesville, both who are now at college (UF and Middlebury College, VT). I’ve had a long time personal and professional involvement in environmental and sustainability issues. Previously, I was actively involved in local energy conservation issues and food co-ops in Knoxville and Raleigh. This year, I’ve resumed my passion for sea kayaking, after a long hiatus while serving more as a soccer dad. I’m excited about Sustainable Alachua County’s current support for local foods and energy conservation initiatives. It seems like a lot of the hopes and dreams many of us have long held about making this a more sustainable place are really starting to take off. |
