Florida Food SummitThe Florida Food Summit is a two day event that will bring together academic, community, nonprofit, government, and business organization experts to share the challenges and opportunities for expanding markets for and access to local food in Florida. Public events will provide an opportunity to learn about sustainable food systems and our local food system in Florida through film screenings, panel discussions, a photography exhibit in the Reitz Union Gallery, and a “Food on the Lawn” event featuring food demonstrations, educational displays and a farmers market. Additionally, a special workshop will be held for invited stakeholders to share their knowledge and ideas for accelerating farm-to-institution programs and spawning new ones that support the creation of a sustainable foodshed.
