Discussion of the Alachua County Resource Recovery Park w/ Dr. Neil SeldmanYou are invited to a community discussion on the proposed Resource Recovery Park at the Leveda Brown Transfer Station on Monday January 25, 6PM in the Grace Knight Conference Room located in the County Administration Building 12 SE 1st St. Gainesville. This is a continuation of the 2008 community forums to discuss the Resource Recovery Park and businesses interested in locating within Alachua County to turn “Waste to Wealth”.
Dr. Neil Seldman, Institute for Local Self Reliance will be back in Alachua County January 25-28, to discuss the development of the Resource Recovery Park and the recruitment of reuse industries to our community. Dr. Seldman was a part of the Alachua County Energy Conservation Strategies Commission (ECSC) study of Waste and Energy Implications https://govconnect.alachuacounty.us/committees/ECSC/Strategies/olgies/Lists/ECSC%20RECOMMENDATIONS%20%20WASTE%20%20ENERGY%20IMPLICATIONS/AllItems.aspx that has received State and National recognition for its innovative work.
We are collaborating with his organization again to further refine the vision for the industrial park and industries that may locate to the community. The goal of this work is to design a local resource management program to divert large amounts of materials from disposal, create businesses and job opportunities for residents, and to reduce energy consumption.
